March 13, 1996: The Dunblane Massacre

March 13, 1996: Thomas Hamilton, a 43-year-old defrocked scoutmaster, shoots 31 people at Dunblane Primary School in Dunblane, near Stirling, Scotland, before killing himself. The death toll is 17, 1 teacher and 16 students. The Dunblane Massacre remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history.

Britain was so horrified about this, they effectively banned the private ownership of handguns. Result: There hasn't been a mass shooting in that country since.

A few weeks later, there was the Port Arthur Massacre. Australia was so horrified about this, they effectively banned the private ownership of handguns. Result: Mass shootings in that country have been few and far between since.

In 2012, there was the Sandy Hook Massacre. America was so horrified about this, we... didn't do a damned thing. Result: Mass shooting after mass shooting after mass shooting.

If Donald Trump truly thinks America is no longer "great," here's a reason why. If he wants to "make America great again," he can start by doing something about the guns. But he won't.
