Donald Trump went down there a few days later, and was seen tossing rolls of paper towels to victims, as if that was enough.
There are certain things a President needs to avoid: A recession that begins on his watch, a war that goes badly (a "Vietnam"), a corruption scandal (a "Watergate"), and botching his response to a hurricane (a "Katrina"). With the COVID-19 pandemic shutting the American economy down, Trump now has 3 of the 4. He ended up not taking us to war, although what happened in Niger was his "Benghazi."

October 2, 2017 was a Monday. Baseball was between the end of its regular season and the start of its Playoffs. The NBA and NHL seasons were about to start. On Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Redskins, 29-20 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Redskins have since dropped the Native American nickname, becoming the Washington Commanders.
The Chiefs have no intention of dropping theirs, possibly because "Chief" is a title of leadership, and thus a mark of respect.
